Israel demands new Iran sanctions after weekend missile and drone attack

The Israeli government is mounting an international “diplomatic offensive” demanding other states sanction Iran following its weekend attacks.

Iran launched hundreds of missiles and drones at Israeli targets on Saturday, though Israeli, US and UK defence systems and forces intercepted the vast majority. 

Israel has vowed to retaliate against Tehran, raising fears of a new escalation that could engulf the Middle East in violence.
